ahahaha => good one!! (no, sadly that's not me) ... ... ummm, but I could do a version where I swipe a blasting-cap and a stick o' powder from the office and then let 'er ripppp!! (but that would probably result in a bit o' damage?!!)
Sounds good but test it on a bunch of MS63 Morgan Dollars and Lincolns. Zillions more around so whats a few
that's a great one JA....panther is sweet, but man so is the gallineus portriat really....don't forget to toot that horn. nice one, "head and tails"...attractive color also. john quincy adams? that's pretty darn cool. i read somewhere that jefferson was in to anciens also?
One that has broke more slabs than i care to say... first please use gloves the plastic very sharp, easy take two pliers, one at top, one bottom, twist one up, twist one down, snap... do over a towel so your coin doesn't bounce off the floor..rim damage...
JA, glad your getting into the zoo. I agree Gallienus' mythological reverses are really neat. Here is my Libero panther (or 'Tigress')
Well, Gallienus showed up today, so I cracked him out of his coffin and took him out for a breath of fresh air.
My oh My, JA awesome coin details off the chart, glad its in a good home, very nice.. I'd like to add awesome pictures...
yah, I agree that the coin is absolutely "fantastic" (congrats dawg, top-notch!!) ... but it is a bit weird, no? ... it is the coolest, but kinda the worst beard "ever"!! ... => it's kinda like some weird lower-neck beard? (or is it supposed to be metal mesh armour?)
Resurrecting this thread because I though of it while at WFOM. While flipping through boxes of coins deemed unworthy of the showcase I found this Gallienus/panther(lioness? tigress?). Can I join your club now? The obverse is not good but the reverse is fabulous, for a Gallienus! These are hasty pictures-- I'll try again later to capture the in-hand look.
Sweet => very cool ... it certainly may be a panther, but this awesome example certainly shows some Lion/Tiger-esque signs as well ... => out-standing reverse ... rooooaaaarrrr!! ahahaha ... man, my example almost looks like a monkey when compared against yours (congrats!)
The panther ID comes from that animal being associated with Liber, The coin sure looks like a striped tiger. Most dealers would look at the obverse and put the coin in the junk box. They would be wrong.
