Ive been making an effort to stop at the coin star machine when im at the store and this is what ive found so far 3- Canadian quarters 1- Equidorian 10 something (whatever the denominations are called) 5- Pennies (3 copper) 1- Clad dime 1- Silver Dime (1962) 2- Canadian Pennies 1- Asian coin with a denomination of 1 Basically I found these the 3 times I went to the store! The silver dime made it worth it. The store is right next to old people community so I think they forget to check the change thing
Yeah… must be all those senile old people because the young could never do something so stupid, right? Seriously though, a much more likely scenario is that there are people, of all ages, who do not check or wish to be bothered with a few coins rejected by a machine they are paying for the convenience of using. The fact is that most do not know or care about coins as anything other than money, young sir, and this is especially true with foreign when the only way they could be spent is by trying to pass them off. Congrats on your finds.
My store must have an eagle-eyed bagger or cashier. In 5 years of walking past the Coinstar machine, I have found exactly nothing.
I found a 1905 Barber dime in the Coinstar machine tonight. It's worn but in fair shape. More silver for me! Sent from my Bell Labs Princess rotary dial phone
Something crazy. I dumped ~$200 in nickels when my CU counter broke and I was charged almost $19 in fees. Luckily the CU credited my account what I paid in fees.
IIRC, it is something like 8.9, but there are other options such as Amazon gift cards that, if chosen, take a lesser percentage or none at all. I believe there is also a donation option, but my experience with such machines is very limited.
