Instead of buying a birthday present for me this year my sister gave me forty bucks knowing that the monthly coin show was this weekend. As of tomorrow (the 14th) I hit the ripe old age of 25! I know I know I am getting almost as old as the coins ;)

Anyways, the Ancient dealer is a awesome guy and I was actually able to see his full inventory today since they were in a new room. Wish I could have chatted with him more but when I arrived a couple of his regulars were there checking out his modern stuff and I didn't want to intrude on their conversation. He did recognize me as that 'ancient kid' I guess I am one of the younger collectors he sees. If I had more of an interest in later Romans I would have had a lot to choose from but alas it wasn't what I was looking for today. Besides they are back in two weeks anyway so I don't have long to wait if I start dreaming about one of the coins I saw today

I had wanted to buy more since I had the cash earmarked for birthday presents for myself but I have too many outstanding bids that I don't want to rack up a large credit card debt if I all of a sudden win a bunch!

This however did catch my eye and I jumped aboard the Ptolemy train.

    Ptolemy VI + Ptolemy VII
    29 mm, 20.67 grams
    Obv. Head of Zeus Ammon
Rev. Two eagles standing on thunderbolt with cornucopiae before

I got it because of Zeus' hair. It looks like the engraver imagine Zeus with a nice breeze flowing through his hair

Next stop may be a 40+ gram one.

Thanks! Awesome graphic TIF. I actually get to go to the Jets game tonight! Birthday present from the GF. Going to have myself an eight dollar beer and yell loudly at the refs, the opposing team, and anything else.

I also had ordered a Republican denarius but the guy runs two websites and it sold on the other website about an hour before I made the purchase so I got the full refund. It was unforunate because I liked the coin but oh well what can ya do.
