Can anybody give me some info on my Japanese bill I recently picked up? A value would be nice as well. Thanks![IMG][IMG]

In 1942 Japan invaded Burma and issued their own paper money. Yours is ten rupees (as I'm sure you know) from Burma. It's worth at most a few dollars but it is still a cool piece.

Thanks for the responses. Even though the value is not there, it is still a very interesting bill. I'm going to keep it.

The entire series is called "JIMs" for Japanese Invasion Money. They made these currencies for their occupied territories including The Philippines and Indonesia. They are pretty easy to find in higher grade as many were kept as souvenirs. I do not know about the niggling details of varieties and types, but you could put together a representative type and denomination set if you had an interest in World War II.

The regular issue Japanese paper money of the period is similarly affordable.

Add a US "Hawaii" note for the capstone in the arch...
