Good Day All, I need your opinion on this auction for these steel pennies. Do they look replated to you? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-of-14-1...s-/121189453959?ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123 I did ask the seller and this was his response: Dear jhutchusa,All the pennies are authentic, and came from a friend of mine that had them from childhood. The one at the bottom right I found in some coins I bought from another person, and it is suspect because it is shiny bright. I don't usually collect pennies or know enough about them to say what the disposition is of that coin. Thanks for your question I hope that helps.,,Bob Thanks John
To me it doesn't matter. They are overpriced. Worth $1 at the most. Although the other $1.50 would be reasonable for S&H.
Why do you want so many 43's? Unless you're making a full roll, it doesn't make sense IMO. If you go to a show or local shop, you can buy a PDS set in mint state for CHEAP. In the end, you'll be better off if you need them for your collection. Drop the Dutchman a PM, I bet he has a few nice PDS sets to choose from. All of the coins to look original except for the copper plated one on the bottom right.
The original 1943 cents were from zinc plated sheets so the stamped planchets had no zinc over the edge, just steel showing. So if you see steel edge , it is original. If you see plated edge it is replated as they can't just do the faces.
I hope someone from here bought them so we can have a good look at the ones with the SW tailed threes.
