I found this in circulation. The back side is smooth with very very faint column lines. Is this after mint? image.jpg image.jpg

It's hard to say the mint tries their best to get rid of any errors they made. wth that said they would have scooped this one up very easily. My suggestion is the coin is just heavily worn BUT that die chip on the right of the coin is probably a mint error.

Thanks eagleandliberty! I noticed the die chip and thought maybe the other side was a mint error. It is so smooth. Ive looked through many, many, pennies, (semi hoarder) and I have never seen one worn like this. Usually the wear has nicks and scratches. It was just weird looking at.

it's usually what happenes with pennies after so many change of hands the back gets worn flat. eventually when the bank gets them or a credit union or some other federal building. they woud be melted down to make a new penny. This penny would be meted down to make a new 2014 penny if you got rid of it today. But I wouldn't since the die chip is still a unusual error and it just plain looks cool.

That's not a die chip and most of the look of the coin is not wear. It's damage.

it would be odd for the damage from wear to be so drastic from side to side from normal wear right? So PMD?
