Is it just me or I'm I falling a bit sour on all these "look at dis" error and rarity? Please, I do understand the enthusiasm, and joy of new collectors, I guess what it comes to is "What's this, Is it rare What's it worth... I grow weary. Tell me what you what? If nothing..... Ahh .... another 30 Year's down the pouch.
From what I understand, you don't have to ask "what's it worth" anymore. You merely send your coin(s) to Detecto along with $19.99 and he'll do the appraisal for you.
One of the neat new features of the site is the watch a forum, where you can select specific sections of CoinTalk and focus in on threads from those sections using the "Watched Forums" page. For example, you could "watch" the coin chat, us coins, and world and ancient section, and then when you look at the watched forum page you wouldn't see those threads from What's it Worth mixed in. Give it a try, it might make your time on the site more enjoyable.
Eh, I simply don't mind helping out new members. I understand a large percentage of people come here just to find out what they have, but that is ok. Some, though, I distinctly remember coming to this site to find out how much something was worth, found some friendly people here and good information, and have stayed. To me, if one in a 100 stays and becomes coin collectors, its worth it IMHO. Even if its not one in a 100, I simply feel I have done my good deed by helping out others.
That's exactly what happened to me...and I've never regretted the plunge! Many fine and helpful folks, each visit rewards with new information and insight...and I get to witness all the petty whining an' sniping; Great Fun! You do good work, Peter...Many Thanks!
For me, it's not so much the repetitive questions. I'll read those, and move on if I've seen it before. It's when the original poster asks a question concerning an error, grade, or value, receives multiple answers all in agreement, then argues that he has something more important/valuable than the responders tell him. These are the ones that make me scratch my head.
I agree with Chris 100%. It's not like it's a great burden upon my time to take a few minutes to help someone out.
Everyone loves a good pat on the back. Everyone needs someone to celebrate a good buy with. Everyone needs help sometimes.
Shucks! I went through all the threads I started, and it isn't there. I can only assume that the last "make-over" eliminated (or put them somewhere else?) some of the older threads. Does anyone know if there is a way to retrieve them? Chris
When you went to the last page of threads you started, did you click the "find older messages" button? I'm able to go back to threads I started in 2011...
Do you remember when you posted the thread Chris? Meanwhile, I'll check my stuff 'cause I remember I responded to that thread.
