Im curious if anyone knows anything about spacing errors on certain 60s pennies on IN GOD WE TRUST? I have one from 64' and 67'. To me it seems the letters if they are struck very close to the rim. The GOD is struck with more spacing from the rim than the other words, most apparent in the G. The E in WE is struck considerably lower than the W. Other pennies I see are spaced just fine. I don't think I have struck gold or anything just wondering whats going on? Anyone know more about this? Thank you in advance for your wisdom if you choose to respond.

I believe this has to do with die deterioration, and some issues with the hubs for that year...both very common for the mid-60s.
    Keep up the hunt!

That is correct. The hubs that made the dies were worn so the lettering was mushy and closer to the rim to begin with, than let's say coins minted in 1969 after new master hubs and master dies were made.

That closeness to the rim combined with die wear as coins were struck compounded the issue and some coins of the sixties, (particularly 1968) can have the IN GOD WE TRUST appear to be riding right off the rim of the coin.
