well in 2013 coinstar tells you to look in the reject slot and they collect change in big steel boxes so there are no backup problems. just thought id add that since the guy opened it the other day. kinda cool all that change in there..
Got a 43 steelie from a coinstar and separately a Chuck E. Cheese token from my bank's coin counter. I keep the CEC tokens for my 5 year son to play with.
64D quarter at a coinstar today. First silver quarter I've ever found. Man it's nice seeing the silver edge instead of clad.
after reading about coinstar finds on here, i kept an eye out,, but never thought id get anything---always empty( probably because of what some of you indicated on here about message on screen saying to check reject slot--i personally would never lose 10 percent using one) but today i watched a guy dump some change, pick out the rejects and leave em on the counter. thanks to him i picked up a nice 64 dime! hahah .... too bad i don't have banks that have 'dump' machines around me. thanks for the tip everyone!!!1
My son found a 1954 Dime in a local coinstar yesterday. I told him to make sure he saves it and not spend it.
A 72 and 28 Lincoln cent, then I threw and 72 in with my coins I was dumping and got a 55-D wheatie when I got my money from the teller. Then, as a bonus, I drove to Wendy's to get lunch and got a 34 wheat in my change. It's wheatie day today for me! Actually, the 28 looks like a potential clashed die error, but I'm not sure on the diagnostics yet.
I found a 1905 silver Barber dime last night in a Coinstar machine. It's in well worn but decent shape. Sent from my Bell Labs Princess rotary dial phone
Finally, my first decent coin machine find. 6 UK pound coins and 1 UK 5p coin BEST OF ALL - a 1935 Merc Also, a .925 silver necklace pendant with a decent sized chunk of turquoise in it.
Pretty interesting finds in the reject cup at my dump bank. 1 British pound coin 4 Australian 2-pound coins 1 Cayman Islands penny 1 5-Pence coin Some kind of lapel pin But the last thing, I have included some pics of. It doesn't appear to be a coin. I don't know what it is! The edges are not reeded, there is no date or any identifying markings. It sounds like silver (probably wishful thinking) when I drop it on a table. It weighs 10 grams and is 1.25" in diameter. Any one have any ideas?
