Just checked my spreadsheet - ~145 boxes so far this year(picked up another 8 today). Averaging just under 10 wheats per box. Probably 20 of those boxes were solid 2012/2013Ps so my average would be higher if I took those out.

I haven't searched for anything at least 7 months, today I grabbed $50 dimes from my bank just for kicks, one roll had 13 silver dimes, another one had 10 and got one more out of another roll. That was fun!

I went into a bank today and asked if they had any halves. The teller said they had one roll which she pulled out for me. As I gave her my money, she says she thinks the roll of halves feels small and she is going to count them to make sure they are all there. She dumps them out and says the look like they are brand new. Then it happens!!!! She proceeds to count them one coin at a time holding the obverse and reverse of each coin between her fingers and then placing each counted coin in the palm of her other hand . I wanted to say something but was afraid of sounding rude, so I just bit my lip and watched quietly. Once she was finished she put them back in the roll and gave it to me. When I got to my car and re opened the roll I saw immediately why she thought they looked brand new. There were 8 proofs and 7 other NIFC halves. The unfortunate part is that some of the proofs now had a decent size finger print on them :(.

    In all the coins in the roll were as follows: 98, 99x2, 03x2, 03Dx2, 10, 10Dx2, 11x2 and the proofs were 96,98, 00, 04x2, 07, 08, 09.

As bummed as I was about the finger prints they were still cool to find and some did manage to make it unscathed.

From now on though if a teller says they are going to count a roll I buy I plan to politely explain that I collect coins and would prefer if I could count the coins in front of them.

Here are the proofs from the roll coins 037.jpg coins 038.jpg

Thanks Ken, it was a CWR. I've had some luck this week with CWR halves. I'm sure you will find a proof sooner or later. In the past year I've found 9 proof halves, 5 proof nickels and I got one proof quarter back in change.

Amazing amount of finds at work today!:
    20 Wheats!: '18, '23, '28, '38, '39x3, '41, '45, '46, '46D, '49D, '52, '52S, '53D, '56x2, '57, '58, '58D.
    Nickels: '46, '70S
    '71S Penny
The 1953D looks beautiful. I'm not really good at grading coins, would this be considered AU or BU, or something else?

The 1928 seemed brighter than the average wheat but also looks like it was cleaned. Still pretty bad shape:

    So
$55 in CWR nickles equals nothing
One dollar and lose half-dollars equals nothing

Picked up $5 in CWR pennies and $4 BWR nickels from a random bank outside my usual route. Got skunked on the pennies (other than 92 pre-83 coppers), but pulled a 1942 war nickel so that made my day for such a small number of rolls searched.

I asked if they had halves and got the usual no... but they offered me a CWR of large dollars. Snapped that one up without a second thought since I almost never come across a full roll. Got home and unwrapped them - all Ikes from Philly in average to rough shape. If my LCS doesn't want them for $22, I'll spend them back into circulation just to see the confused look most people have when you hand them a large dollar coin. :)

    40$ in cents:
Terrible. I'm pretty sure I got someone else's searched coins. The only copper coin was a 1945 wheat. 3 Canadians.

Box of Nickels: 19 pre1960, 1943P War (Cleaned), 1950 plain.

Box of Pennies (my first ever): I wanted to look for varieties and do it right...IT TOOK A LONG TIME! :( Lots of coppers but I don't see the point so I didn't tally them.

    Results:
    4 Wheats (1937, 1944, 2x1958D) I found 2 wheats in the first roll...thought would be a great box! :)
    6xCanadians (1944, 1952, 1968, 1978, 1989, 1999)

Checked for ALL kinds of varieties...lots of throwbacks but I did find a 1998 WAM. Nothing rare but cool nonetheless.

Got one more box of nickels for tomorrow.
