If I wanted to pop out a 1999 proof SBA dollar to put in my Littleton coin folder with the rest of my collection, how can this be done? Is it fairly easy? Thanks for any help and Happy New Year!!
First I am assuming you are talking about an individual coin. Yeah, it's easy. Just put the holder under a light and look for the seam between the two halves. Take a knife, place it on the seam and press gently. Once it is between them, just twist the knife a little bit and the seam will open slightly. Then holding the holder so the coin can't fall out place your fingernail in the joint and turn the holder in your hands until the pieces can be pulled apart. If you are talking about taking apart a Proof set, use the same method with a knife to separate the two halves of the case. It's even easier because it's larger.
Well hey, thats simple enough. I'm only talking about the individual coin in the round holder. I'll give it a try and let you know what happens. I need to find my cotton gloves first though. Thank you!
Alternativly you can allways use a jack hammer sorry coudnt resist that dont forget to do it slowly and carefuly :thumb: De Orc
Now that is a silly answer. Everyone knows the easiest way is to use a torch and simply melt the plastic off. Placing in a blast furnace will also get some results.
