I belong to two local coin clubs - Visalia Coin Club (which I am the Vice President) and the Fresno Numismatic Society ( a neighboring city).

Sonmeday I will but that day is not here yet.

I substitute online discussions because I can do them at my leaisure. With both my wife and I working and with three active kids (sports, school stuff, friends, etc), getting to a coin club meeting on a regular basis would be difficult.

I don't belong to one. I think I'd feel like a jerk walking in to the meeting by myself. Similar to walking into a bar or whatever. I'm not sure what makes me feel this way. Online is very non-threatening, and like Stujoe says, the meeting times are more convenient! Although, I don't have active kids, I'm just lazy.

I tried joining a coin club back in Wilkes Barre, PA in the early 80s but since I was only 12 at the time, I wasn't allowed in without an adult. Since my Dad worked, I never joined.

When I was old enough and had transportation, I joined the AF, and never stayed in one place long enough to find a decent one; however, when I was stationed in England, I used to meet with some heavy hitting historians in the Oxford area. The experience was great! Alas, I had to move again.

I'm looking forward to joining a club, but that will have to wait until I retire from the military....Until then, I'll stick with the books and on-line...

I belong to the AACC (Anderson Area Coin Club). I was the first Club Secretary and put together the club Charter and By-Laws. Our club is non-profit and we support the community through donations and actions. Our goal is to educate ourselves on numismatics and support the youth of the community through education. The club is not quite two years old and we have grown beyond our expectations. We are working to put on a coin show, which we are finding takes much planning and support, but I know we can and will do it.:thumb:

I belong to the Ocala Coin Club - a really nice local club with a lot of interesting auctions and a great show once a year. Also belong to the ANA and FUN. I heartily recommend a local club, if there's any way at all that you can attend.

I was a member of the Wellington Coin Club from 1997 until it merged with the Royal Numismatic Society of New Zealand.I was also a member of the Royal Numismatic Society of New Zealand from 1997 until December 2005,when I resigned. edited - please refrain such comments

I have been a member of the Wanganui Numismatic Society since 2000.They have only 5 local members that turn up to meetings, which are held in a member's house each month. There are quite a lot of members who live out of town, like myself.

I have also been a member of The Postal Order Society, which is a numismatic & philatelic society in England, since 2004.I have been the New Zealand Overseas Representative since 2005.In effect,I am the British Commonwealth Overseas Representative,as the one from Bangladesh did not stand for Overseas Representative for his area.

    Aidan.
