So, After recieving a decent deal of money for Christmas this year, I have decided to take another trip to my favorite coin shop. Before I get there I think I am going to plan my money and have a plan. (Last time I was wreckless and kind of wandered in and out of the IH box ) I have decided to purchase the 20-30 wheaties and finish off my collection of Lincolns...YAhOOOO hya: With the remaining money I would like to buy a loupe due to my not having one and also I would like to get a few more IH's. Now with all my IH i need a plan: HOW DO I ORGANIZE THESE? I have come up with a few options..and here they are... 1. Get a binder and pages and put them in that way 2. Get a few smaller boxes and stack them 3. Leave them the way that they are and keep them in a drawer I, so far like option one but Iam not sure with the controversial PVC in the pages..So if you have suggustions, techniques of your own and want to show them up, and even if you want to share experiences have at it. Iam hoping that this thread brings everyines organizing and collecting techniques to one place. And if it fails then well I tried.. ♣Peter♣
If you search the board I think you will see recommendations for binders. If you use 2x2's I like that option better. As for me - I like airtites and I have yet found a good way to organize those. MY IHC's come in three varieties - slabbed, raw (airtites) and in my new dasco album(ag/good coins). So I really can not recommend anything and I wish I could find sometype of binder for my airtites(not the airtite albums where you pop them in a hole). I looking for something where I can write the grade on piece of paper(or something) and slide it in with the coin.
Mark, Air tites, hmm how do you do that, that would really tick me off, you cant stack them, and dont they scratch when together? ♣Peter♣
I do like albums but I plan on getting one for my lincolns first..and well now that I think of it I might just go with one for my Indian heads..alright thanks..i guess you could say problem solved..but everyone go ahead post your methods..iam intrested. ♣Peter♣
Currently I keep them in airtite albums - what I do not like is that there is a place to put something in it for the grade. I have been looking at these eagle albums - according to one site the pockets have a clear plastic cord at the bottom of each pouch - which can be used to secure the airtites. I have not found a good picture, but I am going to check around here to see if I can find one to see what it is like. They also have slab and set holders.
I have decided to go with dansco albums for both my IHC and my lincolns, please though everyone still share their methods/techniques
The albums can be initially expensive, but worth the cost in the long run. Also, it is cheaper than putting them in 2 X 2's and then pulling them out for an album. Good Luck!
I have a Dansco for the Wheat Cents, purchased when I got back into the hobby last year. My Memorial Cents are still in the Whitman Folder from 25 years ago and obviously need some updating... Thalia uses Whitman folders for her Memorials, but I think that's OK for a young collector. All of her cents have been found in change.
Mark, let me know how you make out with albums for airtites. I keep all my coins in airtites, on the cards and in the airtite storage cases. This offers great storage but not very good to display them.
This is a pretty good question. My collection is growing and i'm having trouble keeping them organized in a way I like. I have a mix of TPG's Slabs, Airtite holders, 2x2's and some common worn coins kept raw (since i like to hold and feel coins). I also have paper currency in bill folders that I need to find a way to organize. Is there an album i can get which will allow me to put pages for bills, 2x2's and airtites??
