Does anybody do this? I keep my coins in several types of box, including blue PCGS boxes, cardboard flip boxes, Air-Tites in the safe and deposit box, and in OGP. I have considered putting a desiccant in with the coins - one in each PCGS box, several in the safe, several in the deposit box. Does anyone else do this, and if so, what size do you use and how often do you replace them?

You should make sure that the storage boxes are acid free paper. If not the sulfur will make a change in the coins. As for the silica gel, check it often, and when it turns red you have to dry it out, or replace it. If you use a large safe, get a electrical dryer for it, then you will not need the desiccants.

They have many sizes as you can see that are designed different sized spaces. One correctly sized pack in your safe, or safe deposit box is adequate. But you must check on them from time to find out if they need recharged or not.
You will also find they work much better and can last much longer between rechargings if you create micro environments where there is no free exchange of air between inside and outside. Zip lock bags and tupperware type containers are great for this.
