I'm new to this site so hope I'm doing this right. I would like to know if the serial number on a certified pcgs coin has any significance as to the value of it. Thank You much.

No. It's just an ID number.

It has a significance if the serial number doesn't match the coin that's supposed to be in the slab. ;)

I'm guessing you're asking whether a coin that had a number like 7777777 or 88888888 would have additional value attached to it... It might, assuming the slabbed coin is of relatively low value (compared to the value of the slab), hold additional value to an esoteric collector, but I can't say it would garner a significant premium in today's marketplace.

Well, if 00000001 were to exist, I'm sure it would have significant value.

BTW, the Cert Number (serial) can be looked up and verified on the PCGS Web site.

    http://www.pcgs.com/cert/

Once the data pops up, it will show the specifics about the coin including its grade, population and value according to the PCGS Price Guide and may or may not include any relevant photographs.

    For example: http://www.pcgs.com/Cert/15799187/

    OR
