I'm almost sure I read the other night that the EIC struck lower silver content 8 reals in Hong Kong or around there to fool merchants and make a huge profit. Am I right ? If they did.. I want one ! Is there any way to tell them Apart from the genuine article ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
I would assume that if EIC did do this the best way to find out is by weighing the coins. I am sure some of the TPG's would have some of them slabbed and labeled as well. I have never heard of this, but would be interesting to know for sure.
It appears there was ! They employed Chinese workers who then helped to debase the silver better themselves and that's why the mint shut. I need one ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
I read it on the web, then seen a member post it he read it in a book about the American trade dollar he's digging it out for me so I can find out how to spot one ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
