My local dealer took in a 36 proof set as part of a big estate that he purchased very similar to the one that the OP is showing. The coins were all well struck and very nice looking. I saw the set and looked at the coins. Although they were amazing looking, they just didn't look right, but neither of us had ever seen a 36 proof set and wasn't sure if it was our inexperience that made us question the look. He sent them in to NGC to be graded and every one came back altered coins. Apparently they were all whizzed to look like proof coins. He still has them in his shop and is selling them as altered coins, but I just can't help thinking that they would have fooled many a collector. Fortunately, since they were part of a big collection that he bought he didn't have too much invested into the individual set.
