I got this graded recently and was very happy with the result. This coin (including the 1969) has a mintage of 4,050 . Now the coin company I deal tried to go on Heritage and E-bay and other sites to find an appropriate value. We can not find anything on line that would help. It is a beautiful coin and I think it has a chance to be worth some good coin. Can someone help me on here to find a value? Jessie
Krause lists the coin with a value of $40 (not separated by grade.) I'm not saying that's an end-all determinant of value...but it's at least in a book. Hope that helps!
Yea, I have a Krause, but like you said it on gives a basic price. I know that most of these coins sold individually come in a Yellow Flip that has a holder made of PVC. When I bought mine(with the holder) I immediately put it in a snap tite holder. It fit nicely in it. Then I decide to get it graded. From the other examples I have seen, most are considered "impaired proofs" because keeping any of these coins or any other coins for that matter in PVC will ruin the coins. The same thing happened when the US mint started selling Franklin proofs. The 1950 Franklin proof is very hard to find in good condition because most were sold in this type of material. So to get to the point, I don't think many of these coins are in great shape.
I remember seeing a few of these coins on ebay a while ago. While I cannot claim that I remember the exact price, most of them have shot past 300 dollars EACH. Once again, I don't not remember the exact prices epsecially if it was this particular coin. Hopefully you'll get more than this.
