LOL Aidan...I forgot I posted that back in November.
I'll give you one more hint.This same coin and question has been posted before (hence the deja vu) on this forum with me as the guinea pig.I was also unable to answer the "elemental" part of this coin quiz,but like you,I provided the basic info and even discovered something about it that Doug wasn't aware of at the time.

 

Is Probszt a reference guide or an Auction Catalog ??

I also have one of these dukatens.


I bought it at a European auction house in November 2005 after seeing a photo of the one GDJMSP has and inquiring of him as to the coin type since the silver version is not listed in Krause's K&M book.

 

OOPS!..sorry aidan,i didn't realize that doug had already answered the original question in post #16...that the coin is an "off metal" strike,made of the wrong metal that is.
