I just had a person send me a cash transation to my phone number through Paypal and no matter what I do, I can't seem to recieve it. I am guessing that because my phone is a home phone and not a mobile, they will not allow the transation to occur. It is my opinion is because they will not make any money off of a home phone vs a mobile where they will charge for each call to you they make. Dave
I am guessing its because PayPal transactions are sent to email addresses, not home phones and not mobiles.
If you are having problems with it getting to your account you can send a request for payment to him, you can do it as an invoice or a simple dollar amount.
Contact PayPal instead of speculating. After all, they do have those devices which attach to an iphone for accepting payments.
Unfortunately paypal support over the phone keeps bankers hours and email is . . . . slow. I am pretty sure it has to be a verified cell number where they send you a text with a verification code that you enter in(I think you can also have you password reset through a text link sent to the phone after you set that up, so it is imperative that if you loose or have that phone stolen to have that number removed from the account.)
It has nothing to do with them being able to charge you on a mobile phone it has to do with the fact that your attached number has to be for a mobile phone in order for someone to be able to send you money using just a phone # and not your email address. You should have just used your email address instead of your phone number as home phone #'s don't work for this purpose if you don't have a cell phone. At this point there's nothing you can specifically do about this situation as the money isn't going to be tied to your account in any way if you tried accepting a payment by a phone that's not a valid phone type. The buyer could call PP but they are most likely going to tell them they have to now wait the couple of days it will take until the transaction shows up as 'unclaimed' in their transaction status. Once that occurs at that point they will be able to cancel it and then be able resend the money using your email address.
I have sent money to my girlfriends old email address in paypal before, on the senders end they can go into the transaction and cancel it on their end. It is not difficult to do I have done it a couple times. It shows on their end as waiting to be claimed.
I know of no banks open at 6:00am and staying open until midnight. And my experiences with them has always been prompt (1-2 minutes) and I got courteous knowledgeable responses.
PayPal, like eBay, has a community help forum where you can get answers to your questions almost immediately. It would be best if the OP posted his concerns here: https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/Sending-and-receiving-money/bd-p/sending
"You should have just used your email address instead of your phone number as home phone #'s don't work for this purpose if you don't have a cell phone." Well Blissskr, I did try to send my e-mail to the seller, but PP would not allow this either. I read the fine print on accepting their rules for logging onto Mobile phone users. The part I didn't like was that I would be willing to accept any phone calls (Charges) from PP whether real or automated. I did get a confirmation that the money was relayed awaiting my approval. Alas, I can not approve unless I give them a mobile phone number. BTW, This delema has been resolved through the seller, by his retraction thru PP and will send me a check. Dave
