I decided to send my eight Daniel Carr fantasy overstrikes for slabbing and grading by ANACS. It’s my first dealing with the service.

I mailed the package Saturday morning. On Monday evening, I got an email from ANACS saying they had it. Without any guarantees, ANACS says the projected return date is March 6.

I’ll update the group as warranted. Hopefully, it’ll be a good experience.

I am also using them for the first time, actually first time grading anything. You can see my timeline here https://www.cointalk.com/threads/has-anyone-used-anacs-conservation-service.401258/. I also got an emailed order number within a couple business days (submitted at a show on a Saturday), order opened 12/05/22, expected ship date 01/16/22 (not).

Customer service has been great; they responded to my emailed questions within hours. Some things are a little funky - they show a shipped date of 01/19/23 but it didn't actually ship and has been stuck in "finalizing" for over a week now. I paid for provenance labels and images, which I imagine is holding thing up. Grades were posted 01/18/22. I'll be interested to follow your progress.

Everything should be fine. My first ever grading was actually with Anacs and included a Carr item too. I've used them a few times when there were specials and each instance was a straightforward process.

Best of luck on getting some good grades!

I sent my first submission to ANACS last January. Coincidentally, it was my Landis Gold Jefferson and some raw Daniel Carr Fantasy strikes. I was very happy with their service but remained loyal to NGC. After the insanely low grades I have received over the last year, I have decided to give ANACS another shot and used their monthly special of 10 coins (Economy Tier) for $129. They opened my package yesterday with an expected ship date of 3/9/2023. Lets see who gets their coins back first.

Makes me wonder what those Jeffersons grade at Anacs.

A question: do any of the other grading companies handle Carr’s pieces?

    I know ICG does.

ICG does pretty much all the same ones that Anacs does.

PCGS has graded a few; they claim it has to be listed in some catalog (like the Krause Unusual Coins) but they have graded several that aren't in there. A few people on the CU forums have posted their 1964 Carr Peace Dollars graded by PCGS.

NGC has done a few coin club promo slabs with Carr pieces.

Unlike some, I've been generally impressed with ANACS grading. If they'd revise the upper half of their current slab design I'd have no complaints about them at all.

ATS, DC himself said SEGS does too. But I asked if SEGS is still in business - the SSL cert for their website expired 10 days ago. I get they expire (one of the huge bug-a-boos of my work team is tracking 1000s of these), but when they do they get fixed in hours. Not days.

And I like it - you can see what's what in a box. The yellow gets to be a bit much, but ...

Understood, and agreed about the color. But it's the shape I object to, for some reason. I just don't like the curve (though I understand its purpose).

    It's very aerodynamic.

How is their imaging service? I don’t recall ever seeing an example from ANACS.

I have a bit of apprehension about NGC and PCGS since being sold off. At this time my primary source is ANACS for now.

I've only had them grade older vintage coins, but don't remember ever getting a grade I seriously disagreed with. Good luck!
