Surprisingly I picked up an old SLQ book with 17 coins a few days ago and to my surprise these (2) were in the book. I'm not sure if the '17 is Type I or Type II. If someone could help with some insight on grade/value that would be great. I've been trying to look through the PCGS photograde and im not sure if the '18 is high XF or not.
That 1917 is a type 1 for sure. You can tell the easiest by the stars missing from under the eagle on the reverse and the fact that lady liberty's right breast is exposed. The drapery was changed a little later to cover her up a bit.
Looking at the leg, breast and what appears to be luster on the '18-S, I'm thinking AU. Not sure what those scratches are like in-hand, or if there are other issues. Congrats -- that may be worth more than 17 "junk silver" quarters all by itself. The 1917 is Type 1 -- no stars under the eagle on the reverse.
