Well I finally got the scanner out and scanned some images of my star notes. The 2 dollar bill has a uci index of 98.6 and is in crisp condition. Just curious if this actually makes it worth more than 2 dollars . I'll never get rid of it though so its priceless to me. The 100 dollar bill isn't in that good of condition, but it is the first one I found. I found the 100 dollar bill on the 19th of Dec. I had to pay for some windows for the house and thought it would be smart if I got cash to pay for them that way I could search through a larger quantity of bills and VOILA! Found my first star note. The 2 dollar bill I found 2 days later by getting the bank to sell me all the 2 dollar bills they had . LOL 600 dollars worth and found 1 star note in there too. I have been spending them all over the place just to spread them about. What I found amazing was that even though there were quite a few in decent shape and also sequenced ones, there weren't any dates other than 1995 and 1976. I was hoping to find some from 63, but no such luck. Anyway. Happy new year to all. Tom http://picasaweb.google.com/thepettys/Currency
Tom,they're actually quite nice notes, especially that US$100.The black mark looks like it has come from the back of another note which had been stacked while the ink was still wet.If it is,then that $100 is worth a premium above that of a 'normal' replacement note. Aidan.
Aidan, I wish it were the case, but its something sticky on the bill. . I didn't wanna clean it due to what i've learned about cleaning coins and my SERIOUS lack of knowledge on folding money. Which reminds me, yesterday one of the Amish fellows ive slightly influenced about coin collecting and the like got some 2 dollar bills as well. I found out yesterday that he took them and sprayed a little starch on them and Ironed them "lightly" says he. To make them crisp. I just kinda grimaced and let it go until I found out more from you guys about this idea of making them "better". I would think that somehting like this would be frowned upon, but I have no real clue, and I am sure that he really doesn't care if it hurts the "value of it because I doubt it will ever be sold anyway, so I didn't start chastizing him. Would anyone know of any place where I could additional information on how to properly care for folding money? Tom
