Their enabling has certainly contributed to the problems we now have the pleasure of witnessing, so while this post was very kind and thoughtful of you, I can only hope that they would shoot down such a request without a moment's consideration. If this is something that young Tim really wants, he easily could have had the money to buy for himself had he not blown all he has on the widgets, plus, if such a set were handed to him, who here would not expect to see it for sale within the next few weeks or months when some other shiny piece of metal puts a twinkle in his eye? He has told us that his parents are not wealthy, and considering that they have and continue to support a grown man fully capable of contributing, I would hate to see them spend one cent on what should be an extracurricular indulgence taken up only after his responsibilities are met, but instead touches on obsession. He is handed enough.

I can think of many things that should make for a happier 21 year-old than coins. Just sayin'...

You have to stop going by Krause as the final word as to what the value is. You have to start finding out what the value of the actual coin is based on it's rarity, desirability and condition. Then, perhaps you will be able to really say what something is worth.

And as far as the one you pointed out, if you read the description the seller says to "Specifically look at the crack along the rim on the two pence."
He is calling attention to something that might degrade the price but will save him from having issues once the coins are sold. Because he runs a pretty good ad.... Only really saying the coins are genuine and toned. Calls attention to the defect so it can't be used against him later. Nothing in the ad that will really get someone to be able to file a SNAD or accuse him of saying it is more than it is. Basically gives not too great of pics and says to judge by the pictures. I would be concerned that the buyer of this possibly could be disappointed in the quality.

Now that's just not the attitude one needs to have as a reality if one is bent on being the supreme ruler designated leader of the new society. Just ask yourself..... would Paris Hilton say she was "handed enough"..... doubtful. Let's not let a little thing like a parent's possible lack of ability to contribute get in the way of someone getting what he might want. Of course he could then find himself knee-deep in new debt on the shy side of having cash to pay a bill, and then have to pawn sell the coins at a loss.

Curiously enough while digging out passports out of one of my SDB's earlier in the week I found a 1902 Maundy set - in the original red holder that I had sort of forgotten about. I cannot remember when I bought it, must have been when it was cheap though.
