Well.I ordered a coople of extra 20th/an/ASEs when I found out they stop making them, knowing there was a chance the order would'nt get placed. I looked on the US MINT site today to see if they where going to send my last minute order. Becuase the other day my friend just said he looked up his order and it was sent today. Guess what I saw when i looked up my order.

    (drumroll)

    NOPE. Unable to fill order!

    Product is not longer available.

Now is where they will spike in price for a while, watch and see the go form 100 to 300 almost over night. Im glab I got at lease 1 set before this day. Its really over ladys and gents.:)

I thought these we're sold out a long time ago?

My last two sets just arrived yesterday. I now have five sets that I am reluctant to open. I want to keep three of them and sell the last two on ebay as unopened possible MS70's wink wink. If the price does go up to three hundred a set, I'll end up paying for the three I want to keep.

I sold 2 sets to co-workers for $225 ea.. It took about 5 min after I pulled them out and to the first 2 guys I showed them to. They didn't even ask how much I paid for them.

Man i deal with told me he could give me $175 per set. this was over a month ago. Last i heard the wholesale on these are something like $215 now. I am waiting on my last four sets to arrive. they were supposedly shipped on 12/21 but my debit card was not hit till 12/23

when the mint announced the sell out and then the next in line thing, they took a spike then. It will be interesting to see what they do in the next few months and years.

think they offically announced sold out around the mid part of nov. maybe the 6th or 13th was on a monday anyhow .

$300 a set on these are a given I believe by next year

I'd say they got a deal at 225.

I see they are listed for 299.95 currently at several dealer locations for sets in the original packaging. GO, GO, GO!!:)

IN the orginal goverment packing would be the only way to go unless they are certified by one of the two or three top graders. Dealears are cherry picking these thing so much to try an get the elusive 70 and even 69's, it would be hard for me to buy one of their "left Over" sets. Of course some people do not care about that kind of thing, just like these sets

I gave one as a christmas present that i had from my first sets. I made the guy promise to return it to me if his wife did not like it (call me mr. Scrooge) anyhow he will collect some coins if they falls into his lap and she to my knowledge has never collected anything like this. I never got it back lol. think this my fall true about this set, people who do not even collect coins like them. they are/were relative inexpensive and they are very nice to look at and to own.

P.S. Saw one set in a NGC 69 go for $425 on a auction tv show. Highest i have seen one go for in that grade yet. Pretty good i think considering they have not even been sold out for 2 months yet another later went for $375

    Unopened ASE sets

Some of these are damaged, by way of improper internal packing. As boxes are moved coins come out of their places and by weight can and do crack the holders. This is something I would not want to find out after an ebay sale. Maybe a poll to find out how many sets were with coins that were out of their depressions and how many were damaged. Gold is worse then silver because it is heavier. The further it travels the more the chance of damage. Internal packaging does not seem to be a priority. It sure would help with returns, hence reduce additional costs to products. Is all it takes is a piece of this pop bead packing and there is usually room for it. Cost minimal, returns reduced. If you leave one side open as opposed to the four coin eagle sets which are covered on both sides. The fix is really simple.

As far as I know the mint doesn't use anything that has PVC in it---as I'm sure they know what PVC can do to coins....call the mint and ask them.

I talked with my local coin dealer today and predicted that inside of a year, you won't be able to get back the orginal 100 bucks you invested. He said that if you have any you want to sell, sell them now if you want to get your money out of them. He's been in the coin business a long time and I can't help but think that he may be right about this. What do you think?

Did he give the same advice in 2001 about the Bufffalo commemorative too?

That's a very scary comment. He must be trying to get people to sell them to him and only him...lol. There is no way that the 3 coin set will be worth less money.

In fact, you can print this page out and put it in a drawer somewhere. This time next year, if the 3 coins sets (raw, I guess he is talking about) are less than $100.00 ...I will buy all sets that any poster to this site wants to sell. I will buy them all day long at the original issue price...all day long.

I think by this time next year the raw sets will be $400.00. New silver eagle collectors are flooding the market daily and they aren't making any more of the reverse proof and the unc W is sold out with a mintage I guess to be around 500,000. Those 2 coins alone will be atleast $100.00 raw in 365 days.

He sounds like a scammer. I find it hard to believe that anyone with an ounce of common sense would say something like that with a straight face. But then again look at the results of the honest dealer poll. Maybe, it's to be expected after all.

    Happy New Year friends !!!!!!!

This dealer sounds like someone who did not get them. Everywhere i look , they talk about how scares and hard they are to get. there is not a lot of them available out there folks, not now. folks like us have them and holding on to them. Lot have more than one set.

I was at a local dealer last week and told him I had 5 sets. He wanted to know if I wanted to sell any and did I know how much they where going for. I told him no and they where going for about $200 a set. He stated he could get them cheaper than that. I just smiled.
