1983 Fill?

    is this a fill on the number 8 on this 1983 cent?
    You can still see the bottom of the 8.

    It's not called a "fill", a "fill" would indicate a struck-through error and would result in the loss of the design. What you have appears to be a die chip. I have found coins similar to yours in the past.
