http://www.ebay.com/itm/161106300549?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649 I'm really beating myself up for not buying this yesterday. The "buy it now" was $5000.
Thanks for the link. My 9-month old Grey Sheet lists the 1893-S in XF as $8,000 to $8,650. The coin in your link has a bid of $20,000 right now.
How do you know? I mean, I'd avoid it like the plague with the low fb, bad pics, & broken holder. But how can you really tell? Just curious.
It's really alarming that folks don't know how to do this, but simply put the cert number into the PCGS cert verification page and it will show a link of all known auction appearances for the coin. One may then go to the auction appearance and compare images. In this case, the coin was sold by Heritage in 2006 and the images do not match. Regardless, the counterfeit has far more detail than an EF40 would have and the type face on the slab is wrong.
You'd think having coins of that rarity, you would know how to, or afford to, take better pictures ;p
