I got this free (Yay!). It was labeled as Sear 6526 from Arathasa (I think). Post ya comments and information.
Looks more a coin from Zeugitana, Carthage. Perhaps something like: http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/greece/zeugitana/carthage/SNGCop_197.1.jpg SNGCop 197 Zeugitana, Carthage. Time of the First Punic War. Circa 264-241 BC. AE 29mm. Sardinian mint. Wreathed head of Tanit left, in triple-pendant earring & necklace / Horsehead right; caduceus before. Müller 296.
A Carthaginian AE with rather nice surfaces... I'm surprised you didn't know this one... I showed you this type in SNG Copenhagen when we were in Colorado....
Ha, as I remember, you for looking for a book on these at the time... Besides, what know I on Carthage's coins? Nothing!
I believe it is a ligate Punic Ṭ and Š, but I haven't been able to find an example that is an AE 20, only 3 Shekel AE 30's. Still looking for that book when I have the time...
I'm breaking my vow of silence. Again. While I'm singing show tunes, y'all can give me some more input.
You're like my wife. A vow of silence doesn't mean silence! BTW, is this the same coin? It looks different.
Sweet new photos, brother (congrats again on the freebee) ... ... eh-heh-heh sorry vlaha, but I couldn't resist posting my sweet Carthage pony ...
