I have a 1971 mint set. Was looking at the coins today and noticed the 71 D quarter on the reverse that A in DOLLAR is filled in. Is this a rare set or happens often. What would be the value on this coin alone or keep as a set.

Mint sets are produced the same way that regular business strikes are produced, so the filled "A" wouldn't make it rare. Filled letters and/or numbers are quite common.
