I am debating on sending these to PCGS to get them graded. I have seen other posts on here where people are asking whether or not they should send their coins in, and most of the time people ask for pictures of said coins. I know this isn't the best picture, but it gives a good idea of what I am wanting to send in. I am wanting to send the whole set and am hopeful/confident that they will all come back with a grade of MS--. So, what are others' opinions on this? Do they look MS? Should I just stick them in airtites and enjoy what I have? I have another set of 'BU War Nickels' in a capital holder that I have posted in the 'New Acuisitions Thread', and plan on leaving those be..
They look like they have nice luster. But I know people are going to say they need better pictures and of the individual coins.
War nics would have to come back @ least a 67, to make it worthwhile. Yes, individual pics would be nice. I'm sure you've checked for varieties, yes?
Grading every coin will be expensive. Unless you cherry-picked all superb BU coins for the respective dates, or have a 1943/2 or a 1943 DD, you are not likely ever to see most of your money back, let alone all of it. I suggest you test the waters by selecting the best looking coin in the group and having that sent out for you.
Are any full steps? From the pictures provided I say No, unless they are your free submission coupons
It's a choice you will have to make. You will have $30+ in each coin in fees. If the set is special to you, go for it. If not, I would save the money. The image make the coins look too well matched. I'm wondering if they all got a dip about the same time. They look to still have some nice luster. Tough to say what they would grade from the images.
I would advise against submitting this group. It will cost you $20 per coin plus $8 invoice handling costs plus $23.95 shipping from PCGS to you plus your shipping to PCGS. These are all the lowest cost options at PCGS, which means you will into this set for $251.95 prior to factoring in your own shipping cost plus the cost of the coins.
Thanks all for the replies. I have decided against it. I will just put them in airtites and enjoy them. I had been entertaining sending them for a day or two and EVERYONE helped in guiding me towards my decision. Thanks again for the info, everyone.
