Picked this up last week. The 83-O VAM 21A has a clashed 'n' from 'In' near Liberty's neck, doubled 18 in the date, and a clashed designer's initial 'm' over 'God'. The full-coin images are from a flatbed scanner. How do you think it would grade at PCGS? If you're into VAMs, check out the recent VAM Price Guide for the values of this variety.
nesvt, Cool VAM! What did it set you back, what is the rarity, is it a Top 100 or Top 50 and do you know what it is worth? The Other, Other Frank
Thanks Frank³. The dealer wanted a little extra for the toning. I like toned coins, but there's no color on this one. It's just a black bar across her face. I paid $60 and it was graded MS64. It looks MS63, maybe 64-ish. I believe the recent VAM Price Guide is based on realized sales. It shows this VAM at $1800 in MS62. It doesn't have any higher grades listed. :smile
Nevst, I like it as a 64, assuming it has good luster. Nice pickup! Someday I can only hope to be able to cherrypick half as much as you. : )
