Hey everyone, I guess the title is pretty self explanatory, just another member giving a shout out to this wonderful site and expressing my gratitude for everything all of you guys have done to forward my coin collecting and education. I cannot begin to express how much joy I receive everyday by logging onto this site. Its not very common to find real world individuals that appreciate our hobby sometimes, and its a welcome atmosphere to be able to log onto this site and experience the camaraderie and companionship that many of us provide to one another on a day to day basis. I cannot begin to describe all of the ways this site has positively impacted my life with regards to the coin world. This site has provided me with more information; or you guys have pointed me in the right direction to obtain the desired information that I was after, and for that I am deeply grateful. I have 'met' many great folks along the way with my experience here and wouldnt trade some of my online friendships for people I could meet and talk with everyday. @GBroke that goes double for you! My sincerest thanks for taking me under your proverbial wing and leading me in the right direction. I always possessed the coin collector gene/bug but you really helped me bust out of that bullion shell i was stuck in and inspired me to switch over to the REAL coins. You also infected me with that dang toner bug, but I havent been all overboard on that one just yet, we shall see what the future holds in regards to that little area of coin collecting A sincere thanks to Peter, Doug, and all the rest of the moderators that keep this place rolling and a friendly, peaceable atmosphere. Its well worth it to not have to wade through all of the garbage to find the meat. Plus the new site is really growing on me and I appreciated the upgrade. I even have some love for @Detecto, without his purely over-dramatic threads there wouldnt be nearly enough drama to keep us all enthralled and entangled in his day to day messes that we all punish ourselves with by opening his threads and reading them (some of us even participating to a level), its just pure entertainment to me. As the CoinWorld Turns I guess what inspired me to write this thread was due to some reflection time I been having these past few weeks and really analyzing where I want my collecting to progress to in the future. Just this past week alone I have located and attended my first local coin club meeting (wouldve never even thought to look for one without this site), and I have purchased a couple of books to again further my knowledge and numismatic education. I feel like without you guys I would likely still be just collecting basic bullion instead of doing both and really obtaining some enjoyment out of my collection. I recall some advice that @medoraman frequently dishes out to bullion stackers and it goes along the lines of finding quality items that you like and collecting them with the precious metal content being viewed as a bonus or a back-up. I like to think I have collected somewhere in the neighborhood of 100+ ounces of silver this past year but instead of it all being ASE's, 90%, or random junk, i now posses mostly graded coins that hold a premium over melt, but even still they are worth whatever the going rate of silver or gold happens to be if all else failed in the coin world. Truly great advice Medora, and it stuck to my core once I realized what you were getting at by employing this method of collecting, my enjoyment has been tremendous. So I guess that about covers what I had in mind to say in this thread. Thanks again to each and every one of you who has taken the time to open one of my threads, respond to one of my posts, and even criticize me for some of my decisions I have made along the way. I really and truly appreciate it and it has surely helped hone my character even further as well as educated me to the point of being able to confidently buy items that I see. I believe I am now able to hold my own when looking at a coin of interest, or being able to come to an agreement on value from the many things I have learned here..........so that only leaves me with one last thing.............. THANK YOU AND GOODNIGHT!
As a complete newb, I'd have to agree and hope all those who contribute here know they are appreciated!
Well Trey, you were on the edge of the collecting cliff and I just pushed you over. I know where you;re coming from. If it wasn't for CT, I suspect I would not even be a coin collector.
