Just had a run in with eBay trying to combine order and ship to Canada. Come to find out they entered me into their Global Shipping Program. First I found that you have no way to possible combine shipping using their Global Shipping Program. Then I found they were charging my buyer $31.00 for what I could send for about $4.00. Anyway, after I got all that squared, combined her order into one listing and I printed the USPS label off for my shipping directly to her and got an new (to me) label that included the customs declaration. No more need to attach a separate label. BTW, it cost me $8.65 to send 8 items that apparently eBay was going to charge $248 to ship their way. My question is will this new label allow me to combine shipping to Canada at least?
I thought coins were excluded from the Global Shipping Program. You should be able to combine shipping. The form makes it very easy to serve foreign customers. I recommend folks still check the USPS site for any special country-specific instructions
I have no idea what is or is not included in their Global Shipping Program, but I do know I want nothing to do with it. What is "the form" you are referring to? The USPS shipping label/customs declaration?
Any time I have sold coins and combined shipping, eBay gives me the option of entering the shipping fee on the invoice. Then when I go to buy shipping from their site, they charge me whatever it costs. The two factors are not related as far as they are concerned. You can charge whatever you want, and eBay will charge you whatever it costs. One snag I noticed is that you need to fill out the customs form, and it will list the coins separately and expect you to enter a weight for each of them. It does not accept numbers under 1 ounce, and yours will not add up correctly if you enter 1 ounce for each. So what I had to do is erase every pre-filled in spot and just do one item with the total weight. Global shipping this way is expensive. I feel like there should be a cheaper option but I don't understand the post office rules enough to use it. A 2 ounce package costs about $6.50 to ship internationally, and 3 ounces is more than $9. That doesn't seem right. I get packages a lot cheaper from other countries. I got a huge package from Portugal for less than that.
I think you missed something. You no longer fill in a customs form to Canada when you use eBay labeling. It creates a postage/customs label all in one form using the item title you just sold as the customs merchandise description. My question arises because I am having trouble imaging how they list more than a single item on that form.
Rim 's make sure it passes a shake test. Mid June I mailed a 16x 8 mint box with All labels of a clean box. Four weeks later it came back. It made no sound I could hear.
This is what I was trying to tell you. When you go to buy shipping, part of the process is filling out the customs portion. No, it is not a separate form that you attach, but it is still something you need to fill out before you print the shipping label. Let's say you are shipping five coins. EBay will automatically list these five coins on the form as five separate items, and it will ask you to enter the value and weight of each of them. What you should do is erase those items, and then in the first spot, write "5 coins" or something like that, put the weight of them all together along with the total value.
