The paper from the roll causes that toning.

Yellow is a very normal toning color for coprunickel. Store them in plastic tubes when you get them to avoid this issue.

I have about 60 Mint rolls of the Westward Journey nickels, 2004-2006. Almost all of them have some degree of end-roll toning in various colors (blue, gold and/or green). If you leave them in the original wrapper and store these in plastic tubes, they will still tone.

I also have 100+ rolls in the Security Armored Express (white & blue and brown & blue) wrappers and these came from the release ceremonies for the various designs. None of these have toned at all.

It appears that the paper that was used for the Mint rolls is the culprit as previously mentioned. Like Tom said, this toning won't hurt the value. In fact, if the toning continues on the end coins, it could even enhance the value.

the 2005 business strike nickels are known for being ridden with bag marks and scratches, i have been looking for a set of NGC MS67s for my registry set for years, i remember looking threw roll after roll after roll.....without even finding a nice ms65!
