can you use lettering to determine die variety? 1972 P ddo 004?

    Have you checked for die markers? Die 4 has some unique markers that you should be able to pick out. (Scratches through N of UNITED, rim cuds, etc.)

    yeah I looked for those cuds next to liberty and I don't think I see them, but I have been looking at the lettering on the CCW spreads and it seems this is a match. the first 3 are pics off coppercoins 002 004 005. the only with a ccw spread that didn't have a pic of IN was the 007. does it look like a possibility? thanks

    I think the stronger spread and lack of markers indicate that your coin is NOT die 4.

    I agree, there is a lot to see...if you have the proper equipment. I am not one of the fortunate ones to afford such luxuries. photos have helped me on numerous occasions. not to mention that prior to listing this photo i spent 2 days reading the markers and tried before asking for assistance.
