Good morning everyone the other day i still had a bunch of dollar coins to go through but since i ordered pizza and didnt have any cash on hand i had to use the unsearched dollar coins. So I did what i could to catch anything obvious and I did when i noticed this 2000 p sacagewea had another line/rim circuling the entire coin on the obverse. So then I cross referenced with another 2000 p and other sacs and this particular one seems to be special. My first guess was a finned rim since i have seen a few on ebay recently so i had an idea what they looked like. Now mines wasn't as severe as the ones ive seen but when i view the coin at an angle the rim is noticeably higher than the design and face then again are there other possibilities?

I suspect something isn't right. I can't recall ever seeing finning all the way around the coin. Typically it will fin in just one area, where ever the clearence between the die and collar is greatest.

I wonder about the possibility of a brockage maker. The coin sticks to the obv die, makes one brockage piece and then falls off. Since the coin would be out of the collar on the brockage strike it could be forced up slightly around the obverse die, and being just one strike the rev wouldn't start spreading yet.

Interesting theory. So one could say this coin was sort of like a brockage cap?
