I had been wanting one of these pilgrim commems for quite awhile. Got this one at a good '20 price and took about 5 minutes after I got it in the mail to say "what the.....?" I'll let the company know, what do you suppose they will say?
Well I'll tell ya what, if you got that coin for a good '20 price - I'd jump for joy and be happy with that. But if you want, I'm pretty sure NGC will re-slab it for you at the same grade for about $5 and put 1921 on the slab. But if it were me, I'd be so tickled I wouldn't care :thumb:
Other than the coin having a date on the obverse that says 1921, (Which if I recall is NOT supposed to be there). I see NUFFIN....
Doug,there are actually 3 subtypes of this coin - the 1920,the 1921 without a star,& 1921 with a star below the date. Aidan.
1920 mintage 152,112, 2003 Redbook values $52.50-500; 1921 mintage with added obverse date 20,053, same Redbook $100-660.
I stand corrected. Looks like Buff got a better deal than he had thought!.. Just read too that most of them had been sent back to be melted because they flopped at the box office so to speak. I learn something new again today.. YEA....
Blind luck, this was from an online auction. It seems nobody bidding against me noticed the date either as it went for the price of a '20. I only noticed the '21 when I received it. I don't think I'll send it to NGC, I like it the way it is, good story piece too
