This coin was bought in Salzburg 2 weeks ago. There are however some doubts expressed by familiar collectors. Will be thankful for every comment, even negative, but I need to find out is it genuine or counterfeit. Many thanks in advance.
Compare to this one I found on the net, very similar (notice the die break at 9:00 on the bishop side), but apparently not the same coin. Weight is a little different some details on yours a little weak compared to this one. One thing that alarms me on yours is the fields are way too clean for a large coin such as this that has seen any amount of circulation, there should be at least a few dings/marks. It may after all be the same coin after a little "conservation" I am unsure, when is the last time your balance has been calibrated?
Unbelievable! Is it her sister??? Dear rdwarrior, you made my day! Thank you so much! What about this foreshortening? In fact the field is not that clean as it appears on the previous image? Can I consider it genuine? What do you think now?
you have 3 possibilities, they are both real, they are both fake or they are the same coin. As I mentioned above, I suspect someone has taken the coin from the auction did a little "conservation" and then resold the coin. The area around "tus" in the above pic looks like it may be showing some tooling marks?. At this point we should wait for some more opinions before passing judgement.
rdwarrior, yes, you are right about 3 possibilities. I tried to compare scratches on the fields of both coins and it looks different for me. Let's wait for more opinions. Thank you!
Hi, Siberian Man! Nice to meet you here as well! Could you please check PM on Samara for the whole story...
