First, based on the images I don't see it being RB. To me it's BN. The grade is tougher. I don't see breaks in luster but again that could be the image. If it's not a high AU (58; maybe 55) then I think it's MS-63 or -64. So instead of waffling I'll come right out and say MS-63 BN. And I stand by that (unless I'm wrong ).
Based on all the pics I think the coin is a 63BN, but because of what the coin is I think the TPG probably said 64 BN.
First of all, I apologize for the photo quality which may have influenced your predictions. I had 3 different dealers look at the coin hand before sending off to the TPG. All of them forecasted 62BN. Disappointed? You bet.
I thought slider from your photos, but would not have been surprised if in the lower MS range and was not overly concerned with color. Considering the variety and value, if it were my coin and, at least from what I can see, a return trip would likely be in the near future. Right or wrong, getting this in someone's no problem plastic will make it an easier sale, but if you plan on keeping it, only you can decide if as-is is acceptable. I am sorry things did not turn out as hoped.
I agree, I'd wait a while, crack it and send it in again. Or even try NGC. I see nothing wrong with the color of that coin.
Based off the original picture I could see it. This is one I would definitely want to see in hand to really get an idea.
break it out and send it to ngc, they might be less picky. i bought another forum member's unc detail 55' DD, and have 2 other unc detail 55' DDs, those two were obvious recolored or something.
