My guess is that shouldn't have came apart so perfectly. Are you sure the coin is authentic? Usually you have to crack the slabs, that one looks like it snapped together.
crazy glue should do it. its not a big deal, just put it back together. If you go to sell it, you should disclose what you did.
For that date, I'd resubmit it, and not re glue the slab. For any other ordinary coin, I'd do the crazy glue thing, but for that date as one of the ultimate keys, I'd resubmit. That is a really nice looking coin.
I'm sending it out, boy is this pricey.. first time submitting something I'm glad a reholder only takes 5 days and I added the secure us service.
i guess we can all sweat the outcome, results of whether its been reholdered etc. are posted in my orders right?
Fake Slab Fake Coin PCGS will be mailing me a letter regarding this. And lol when I actually compare the coin to the actual one that sold on HA. Reeding is different Bar code lines are different Marks on the actual text are different
Picture #1 - notice the top picture *heritage* and the sellers picture *bottom* you can see the markings on the actual font not match up Picture #2- need I say anymore, the reeding on the coin Picture #3- when the barcodes are lined up they have a different pattern
Its already been verified by PCGS.. this is why I pay for everything with my amex. And shame on me for trying to buy something without have knowledge.. back to my $50 coins
Yes, I can see that it has already been established as a counterfeit. I wrote my post as soon as I saw the images and checked them on the web.
You certainly do not have to go back to $50 coins, but you may want to first verify the cert number on the PCGS Cert Verification page, which then would have shown you that the cert in question was sold in a Heritage auction and could then have gone to the Heritage site to view the lot.
When I saw the # matched up I didnt think anything of it. After further inspecting I thought to myself oh no what did I do, of course when the coin arrived cracked and the person agreed to pay to have me send it to PCGS I agreed. Hearing the guy on the phone say the holder was fake and he had to check with the grader to see if the coin was real was a complete low blow.
