The 73 is very nice and better in hand I'd say a solid xf and the first year of issue the 78-s is a duplicate and my other is much nicer (ms63) but I don't see many decent trade dollars at local antique auctions
1987-W $5 Gold Constitution Commemorative (PCGS PR70DC). Just got this graded and photographed. Always loved the design on this gold commemorative.
since the coin is only in g shape, we will have to use some markers between the small motto, and large motto, so I used the denticle, first the large motto the second one will be the small motto and last is mine thats why I say small motto
I've never heard of being able to use denticles to ID these. Link? Your's is tough because of the wear, the thing I don't see is the extra berry that is present on the small motto. Check here. http://www.numissociety.com/content.php?156-The-1864-Two-Cent-Piece-Large-vs-Small-Motto I think it's a large.
I'd still say small, (lol ) thats why I used the denticles, thats the easiest way to tell, at least for this one, the large motto has more like a rectangle denticle, and the small motto has more of a pyramid shape (reverse)
I used this image too and again, the denticles match the small motto here the only denticle on the obverse View attachment 283932 which again, match the small motto
My first ancient with a stag on it. Got it pretty cheap. Looks much better in hand, glossier actually. IONIA, EPHESOS. (48 - 27 BC.) Æ18 O: Diademed and draped bust of Artemis right, bow and quiver across shoulder. R: [ΕΦ ∆ΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΣ ΚΩΚΟΣ ΣΩΠΑΤΡΟΣ], long torch between two confronted stags. 18mm 4.3g BMC Ionia p. 69, 182; SNG Cop 342; SNGvA 1872
The 1938 is actually graded PR63BN ... there was a mistake in the database. The blue/pink 1961 lincoln is PR67BN, but is listed in the database as a RD also. I need to email PCGS to correct.
Pinnacle Rarities has some beautiful coins, so I finally bought one for my Washington Quarter set. One of the most beautiful Quarters I've seen. It isn't the rainbow toning that most people like, but it's the kind of toning that I like. Here's a PCGS MS-66+.
Beautiful coin! Love those pastel colors -- common on Buffalo Nickels but not so for Washington Quarters. What's the Cert#? That coin actually looks familiar like another toned Washington TruView I saw recently...
Cert # is 27711829 The picture I posted is the picture that Pinnacle took. They gave me permission to use it. I plan on getting this and some others professional photographed at some point in the future. You're right about the Buffalo Nickels. I've had a bunch of them with similar toning.
I don't think that will work. Even on the worst example of 1864 small mottos I have see you can clearly see the stem or a slight break between the leave and motto. You can search ebay for 1864 to see what I am talking about. Other than that we will just have to agree to disagree.
People actually pay more than FV for the coins you post? 100% of the time nobody can even tell what they are looking at/for.
Don't you know the rule here? ALL of Mr. Stachowski's walgreens coins are varieties, and anyone that says otherwise, no matter how long they've been studying die varieties, is 100% wrong.
