    Forgive me if this Is old news (its On a 1926).... I simply don't know what to call it in order to find out what it is maybe Someone could help me out?     Those are "woodgrain" cents, caused by improperly mixed alloys.

    Yep, or "woodies".

    I don't study them a ton, but they seem pretty common on cents from indian head cents up to the forties. There are some true collectors who only pursue these coins.
