You still end up with Pele's hair, trust me. I have some of that I can sell you, personally collected
Hi JP, these coin holders are too dusty for me to use. Please accept this return and refund me my purchase price of $x.xx. Sincerly, Tim
I think of the best types of businesses is the ones that don't require you to use customer service. If they can get it right the first time then they're great in my book. Of course, I've always had a theory that businesses like this have excellent customer service since they are flawless already.
You obviously don't know the meaning of "virtually" when used in marketing this product. A product described as Virtually Dust-free will NEVER be dust-free. It is 'virtually' (i.e., nearly or close to as dust-free as that product will probably ever come, but it still will have dust), or a good approximation of a product with what the manufacturer considers their standards to be regarding dust. In fact, if you are looking for a dust-free product that is cardboard, I think you better keep on looking, because cardboard has dust inherent when it is cut, or has holes pressed out of it. Kind of hard to do dust free totally unless you then coat the cardboard completely and use some sort of glue or plasticy substance that heat can melt into a dustfree barrier.
I'm fairly certain they mean instructions on how you want your refund processed, since you probably paid by money order. Also, given that you took a picture showing the "dust" on your AG-3/FR-2 coin, I hope you didn't USE the holders then decide to return them. JP's seems (based upon comments from others) to be a stand-up operation, and they might even take the loss on your unreasonable expectations for product return. (By this I mean, letting you use the holders then decide you want to return them.) Anyway, they'll probably send you a business check for $1.95. I'm still not sure why you didn't opt to purchase the $2.25 ones that JP's says are the industry standard. If you're paying 2-cents per holder, what's .3-cents more??? After all, you didn't opt for the $1.75 (cheapest) Cowens (made in the US, which you claim is really important) holders on the closeout page, so I assume that price and country of origin weren't your ONLY motivators. If I were JP's, I'd offer you the following options: Store credit for your $1.95. OR Paypay payment for your $1.95. The reason is the cost to process and mail the check would work out to 65-cents to 80-cents, in and of itself.
I'm debating return them. They say on their site they don't refund shipping, which I understand. I have $15 in the holders, before shipping. It would cost me $8.00 to send them back. I would only get $7.00 I think I'm just going to sell them at the next coin club, and coup my losses.
Now that is an adult decision. When cost of return is more than returned amount = not really smart to return product. Now, the second part of the adult decision is to refrain from blaming the company for the 'bad' product.
I can understand a little dust. However, this is quite a bit.. The problem I have does not lie with the quality itself, as much as it does the claims that were made. The manufacturer claims "virtually dust free". The supplier said the manufacturer uses a vacuum. If a vacuum or air blower was used, there would not be this much dust. The cowen's holders did not have this much dust. These holders are "imported", which most likely means made in China. We all know how good China manufacturing is... Cowen's are also made in USA. I tried a few more last night, with another denomination. A new problem developed, they were not creased in the middle, and when you fold them over, about .25" of the other side sticks out.
I always thought of that as a feature. Kind of make coins easier to flip through with the uneven edges.
i just got an email from Jerry doesnt look like he is extremely happy at this point. I dont know if i should tell him about this thread.
