Got everything today. My order was shipped the same day I paid. Bought it on Friday, got it Monday (Today). I was shocked at how everything was well packaged. The holders made by guardhouse were in fact dust free. Even the bottom of the bags have not one speck of dust. The tubes I got are called "Koin Tubes". They are very high-quality, and of thicker plastic than the whitman tubes. They are only 29 cents each, and best of all, usa made. The only thing I didn't like about the site, was there is no search function, so you have to browse through everything. There are no scales, testing acids, and the book assortment is not that great. It's a very minor complaint, as I like to get everything from the same site to save on shipping. So to grade this company: Shipping Speed: A+ Packaging: A+ Pricing: A+ Selection: C I will be using this site in the future when I need supplies, as they are very low priced, fair on shipping, and ship quickly. I also got a 2x2 double row box. I was shocked at how big it is! This thing can hold 300 coins.
I've conducted business with Jerry at JP's Corner for almost 10 years and have never been dissatisfied. He has always shipped promptly, and I can't recall any other retailer providing faster delivery. If, for any reason, something is damaged in transit, Jerry will replace it without any questions. In defense of Jerry's inventory selection, I've noticed that there are a number of things that have disappeared from his lists over the years. I can only assume this is because certain items did not move too well. You can't expect a retailer to carry everything and still maintain (overall) low prices. Chris
I have tried several different outlets. JP's Corner is where I get my supplies. The only thing I can't vouch for is their customer service. But that's because I've never had to use it. My orders have always been dead on.
Taking your order, processing your payment, packaging and shipping your order are all part of customer service. JP's has everyone else beat.
JP is good, I've used them several times. And that 2X2 double row 14 inch box will hold 200 coins (with some stuffing which I don't recommend) not 300. I know this from experience because that is what I keep my Conder tokens in. I have 910 different plus about 100 or so duplicates and I am into my sixth box.
Well upon further inspection of the "Guardhouse holders I got from Jp's corner, they ARE dusty. I lay no complaint with them, but who MAKES guardhouse holders? These were the same holders I got from collectons. I had a nice BU coin that I put in a holder, and a piece of paper chaff stuck to it, would not blow off, used a fine cloth and it left marks.
Try some of that bottled air , it's great for getting dust out of holders and off coins before pics without the risk of spit or other contaminants getting on the coins .
[quote="Detecto, post: 1776899, member: 32682" who MAKES guardhouse holders? .[/quote] Ed Frossard's ghost makes them. He thinks your one of the Chapman brothers.
Big surprise... there's something wrong. I just wouldn't be a full day unless there was something wrong. What a cruddy way to live life.
It's not so much the fact that the holder's have dust, it's the fact that the manufacturer makes the claim "virtually dust free". When I called the distributor, they said the manufacturer uses a vacuum during a manufacturing. As far as I know, there are only two manufacturers of cardboard 2x2 holders, Guardhouse, and Cowens, neither of which have their own website. I had some 2x2 as one time, that were in fact dust free. However, it has been so long since I ordered them, that I cannot remember who made them and where they came from. I know at one time Whitman made them, but I believe they no longer do. Here is a photo of the dust, and the resulting mess it produces. You cannot remove this with air. They are statically charged, which is why they stick to the window. They stick to your fingers, and any coins you handle, they will transfer to it. It's a damn good thing I don't collect proofs, because these would be a bloody nightmare for proofs. The resulting mess it leaves on a coin. Air removes some off it, but the rest sticks, and if this were to happen to a poof coin, it would be impossible to remove without leaving marks.
I remember now....it was Wizzard who sold me the holders, and they were made by Cowen. They were in fact dust free.
