  1. I was wondering if someone could identify these ancient coins for me. any help would be appreciated. also, if you could give me some tips on how to clean some ancient coins or refer me to a thread that would have tips, I would be grateful.

It all depends on the mint. I cannot read the mintmark at the bottom of the first image. If you can, we can narrow it down even further.

  5. well, I can't read the mintmark, but it looks like there was something there at some point, maybe a "k" along with other letters now obscured. I know that on the "face" side, I can read "PFAV", but that's it.

Just from the looks, I would take a guess that it was minted at Cyzicus with a mintmark of SMK.

The obverse legend might have read: D N THEODOSIVS P F AVG

  7. That seems like it. Thanks!

Got any more you need identified? I enjoy it.

  9. well, yes, but they are even less cleaned, so... i need to be able to actually identify them as coins with something visible before posting them. so, for the time being, at least until I clean them, I think that's all I have.
