Hi Everyone. I have another one to show. This is a 1903 Indian with what looks like Gold or Bronze struck on the reverse of the coin, I have seen some pictures where Forighn material like small piece of other types of metal would fall or drop on to the coin sheet while they where pressing coins. The small piece of material is just below Cent in the wreath Let me know your thoughts.
I guess it was some impurity in the metal that made that little blob appear a bit more brassy than the bronze of the rest of the coin. Ca. 1904 the mint did strike some IHC's on $2 1/2 gold blanks though - very expensive to own.
to me this looks to be raised a tiny bit above the surface of the coins metal. if it is then it is something that is dried up on the coin or welded to it. a struck thru piece of metal would be flush with the rest of the coin and it's design elements.
