Last week this SLQ caught my eye so I put in a bid of $90 and was the highest bidder until just recently. I noticed the spot in between the L and I after I placed my bid and while I feel funny about it I still really like the coin. besides if nothing else I can always return the coin per their return policy. What do you think, since ive been outbid should I walk or try for $100 max? http://www.ebay.com/itm/39064587631...l?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=390645876315&_rdc=1 Second up is a 1930 SLQ graded au55, a touch lower than the 58 above. If I back off on the first coin I could always look at this one. It seems "whiter" and less toned than the one above and as far as any issues the only one I can see if a spot directly above the eagle. http://www.ebay.com/itm/12116272985...l?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=121162729850&_rdc=1 So I guess my question is should I stick with the one I'm looking at or go for the second one with a slighter lower grade? does the 55 vs 58 make much of a difference? Just looking for over all thoughts on the coins and how hard I should pursue one of them. Thanks.
I'm not sure what to recommend here, but the photos of the first coin are apparently a lot more flattering than those of the second coin.
Jeff I agree completely. With that said i'm trying to look past the photo and at the coin. Not to mention opinions are always nice
if you feel funny about the first coin dont buy it based on a return policy, not very fair to the seller and not worth the risk of you being burned on a coin you dont like
I'm def leaning towards the first one. The spot is away from the actual design so it's not that annoying. Besides, every coin I own has something I'd "fix" so they're all upgradable really. This hobby is a long term thing so I'll always be looking for "better" specimens.
Are you willing to buy a raw coin? If so check this one out. My guess is that it will sell for less than the two your looking at, and it has a better strike imo. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1930-25C-St...19?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item51b0a1c757
