well, i'm currently on coin hold...and can't have any coins for a while...at least until early October or so. well, you can imagine my surprise when i found this coin in my mailbox today....amazing! a byzantine decanummium! i can't believe it. i mean if i would have purchased a coin like that it wouldn't have cost much anyway right? well, of course i didn't buy it....i'm on coin hold....i'm just saying. justinian i 527-565 decanummium antioch mint sb236 3.7g 21x18mm (year 12 i think?...but not sure)
Abstinence is the only way to prevent coin pregnancy. I was also going to make a really dirty joke but don't want to get banned from the forum. There may be some liquid bidding for me tonight. Cheers!
Oh my => yup, sometimes those Byzantines work in mysterious ways, eh? ... => maybe it was Byzanta Claus!!?
Cool freebee! I really like these early Byzantines. Here's my only decanummium of Justinian I, struck in Ravenna in year 37 (of his 38 year reign): Justinian I, AE decanummium (struck 564 AD) Obv: DN IVSTINIANVS PP AVG, helmeted and cuirassed bust facing, holding cross on globe and shield Rev: Large I, ANNO (year) in left field, XXXVII (37) in three lines in right field, Ravenna mint SB 326, 15 mm
i believe in byzanta claus! when good boys and girls aren't supposed to buy any coins for a while, sometimes byzanta clause (pictured here with some of his helper elves) will bring a special coin and leave it in your mailbox. leave out some popcorn and beer for him!
byzanta claus doesn't leave coal...he leaves highly polished overcleaned slugs that even Carnac the Magnificant couldn't identify.......
