Looks like the Mint has the 2007 schedule up to May. Feb 15 they are releasing the Presidential $1 Coin Proof set. Looks like that will be a set all it's own. http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProdschedView?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001
Good that they are by themselves. :thumb: I didn't want any more "junk" coins. As it is, I have to put up with the "Golden" dollar, which I just put away in an Interecept Shield single holder, never to see daylight again.
The more I think about it they might be putting out the dollars alone like they do the state quarters and then also include them in the other proof sets. Any one know for sure?
I think ND86 told us in another thread that they will be bundled into one big proof set consisting of 3 seperate boxes enclosed in 1 sleeve.
God bless those Mint people. The politicians are heaping more and more coin programs on them. They had state quarters, new nickels, a few commem issues a year, and then in the past year, mandates for a 24 karat gold bullon coin and FIVE dollar coins per year IN ADDITION to the Sacky, and so as not to upset the people who got the Sacky minted, they are required to mint at least a certain number of those a year in relation to the Presidential dollars. I don't know how they are going to do it.
http://lincoln.senate.gov/press_show.cfm?id=249940 By the way, the US mint misspelled "desegregation" on their website. :computer:
No, it sounds more like the commemorative program of the 1930's and the commemorative program of the 1990's. Both of which effectively killed the commemorative coin programs, albeit the first for a much longer time period. Those who fail to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them.
commem's Why don't the elephants make the commemorative to pay for the war they started, better use of the sur-charge.
looking forward to the Presidential $1 Coin Proof sets. Anyone know if they will take pre orders soon?
thanks for the post, thanks to all, much good info. The mint is going of the deep end here. They need to cool their heels and start concentrating on quality not quantity
Think the mint will be really be missing the boat if they do not make a silver edition of the presidential coin. Anyone heard any informaton of when the APE set may become available?
Hooray for Junk!!!! ALL circulating coins are "junk." They haven't had circulating gold and silver for years and years and years. what's junk are commems that you can't find and are too damnded expensive from the mint.
No it's not! I thought that the reason they were putting presidents on coins is to get the public interested and increase circulation. I'm very angry with the silver proof sets as they're a complete ripoff. We should have more circulating coins, not "junk silver."
It's also interesting to note that the second commemorative dollar will be offered for sale in May next year instead of September.Hopefully this will avoid the end of the year logjam that happened with the Old Mint commems.
I was thinking more like stamp collecting where they keep adding more designs and "you can't just get the single stamp", there's the first day cover, and the plate block, and the panel issue, and the full sheet, and the coil, and the booklet issue. Then for some issues there are the ones printed by an outside firm as well as the ones printed by the BEP. So there is one design, but in order to get it in all its different versions you need six versions and a total of 245 stamps. And that is just for one design! The Post Office issues over a hundred designs a year! Get all the variations for one year that's 24,500 stamps.
