Appears to possibly be a plating blister, and if it is, that means that it is a one-time occurrence on the coin (meaning you wouldn't find other coins that exhibit this exact anomaly). The difference between a plating blister and the 3 legged bison is that the 3 legged bison is a die issue. You can find the exact same anomaly on multiple coins, meaning that multiple people can collect it. With a one-time issue such as a plating blister (if that's what this is), there is only 1, so it won't gain as much interest as it is not present on multiple coins.

Still, an interesting conversation piece nonetheless. :)

I agree but it has good novelty appeal. It's not a plating issue but it could be a planchet issue. There is a depression, a lower depth part between the booger and the lip. Then the raised part the "booger body" which is actually more prominent than say a 1993 extra column. Maybe it is a die issue. Now that I think of it. The bar under the nose is raised so the die must have had a gouge then the depression next to it must have been made by a boomp in the die. Maybe there are some more out there.....

I really need to get more organized because I have a few funny ones I can't find at the moment. I have a Star Trek Abe with his eyesbrows look like Spock and one that he looks like he is sticking his tongue out, like he is giving you a rasberry :D

I'm going to take some shots that show the vertical dimensions on the face. Maybe measure with a micrometer. I used to think it was MD but nothing is doubled. Then I thought plating issues but the different thicknesses of each plane are more than can be explained by that theory.

Bless you, Mr. President! Even if it isn't worth much I still think it is an awesome find! I would really love to see Star Trek Abe though! Everyone collections gotta have key pieces, I'd be okay with owning some funny accidents :)

Even though it's pretty wretched looking with that green stuff growing on it. Is there a danger that the green areas will rot?
